We are looking for a professional and enthusiastic, seasonal Batchman, to work full-time in our North Battleford, SK location commencing for the 2018 season.
Reporting to the Concrete Coordinator, the Batchman is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the concrete plant, ensuring all safety and environmental regulations, policies and procedures are followed. This position is also responsible for communicating with all levels of personnel in the organization, ensuring the timely production of quality concrete, while reducing and eliminating waste. The Batchman additionally ensures all preventative maintenance; housekeeping and repairs are completed on schedule, with minimal down time.
  • Provide direction and guidance to employees in order to optimize performances in terms of productivity, quality and just in time delivery. 
  • Creates a positive work environment, builds employee morale, and utilizes people to the best of their ability.
  • Holds regular safety meetings, and hazard assessments, and ensure that all employees maintain a safe working environment.
  • Motivates employees to be neat, courteous and professional.
  • Ensures concrete deliveries are prompt, efficient, and to specifications.
  • Ensures concrete plant, mixers, gravel trucks, and other employees are utilized in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Coordinates repair and maintenance of all equipment, and communicate to Concrete Coordinator.
  • Ensures buildings and equipment are neat, clean and well maintained.
  • Works with and communicates daily with the Concrete Coordinator.
  • Ensures standards and specifications are met or surpassed.
  • Understands and follows the quality control plan.
  • Maintains high standard of workmanship and professionalism.
  • Implements use of new technologies and products as directed.
  • Treats customers in a professional and courteous manner to create excellence in customer satisfaction.
  • Represents the Company professionally in the community and promotes ongoing business relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Up-sell customers with our value–added products in order to increase our profitability.
  • Back up ready mix driver and loader operator when required.
  • Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.
  • Ensure that all deliveries are on time and in spec.
  • Schedules all orders as such to maximize productivity and manpower while keeping overtime to a minimum.
  • Responsible for maintaining raw material inventory for ongoing orders.
  • Communicate start and finish times with employees.
  • Provides retail prices on phone as required.
  • Ensure all orders have payment secured or know of their current account status.
  • Maintain communication with drivers during placements to ensure proper scheduling and quality can be achieved.
  • Communicate with Concrete Coordinator, all safety infractions and any complaints as they arise.
  • Weekly Inspections to the concrete plant and maintenance as required.
  • Making sure that all running equipment is maintained neat and tidy and also routinely inspected including the inside of the concrete truck drums.
  • Making sure that all delivery tickets are completed fully and accurately by all employees.
  • Takes accurate concrete orders and asks all the right questions in order to minimize any mistakes with the concrete order.
  • Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics. 
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred
  • Class 5 Drivers License required, Class 3 preferred
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of a concrete plant
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
  • Must comply with Drug and Alcohol, as well as Fitness Testing.
  • Willing to work out of town
  • Willing to work overtime, as required.
