NWT Construction Ltd. is looking for a professional and enthusiastic, seasonal UNDERGROUND SUPERINTENDENT , for our 2018 construction season, to work full-time in our division located in Yellowknife.
Summary Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Underground Superintendent ensures that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and direct people, equipment and resources in the installation of waterlines, sanitary sewer, hydrant vaults, ductile iron, and Victaulic products.
  • Allocate resources where appropriate to achieve project safety, schedule, cost, scope and quality objectives.
  • Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, equipment and utilize corrective action to keep the project on time and on budget.
  • Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met.
  • Oversee the performance of all sub-contractors, ensuring that work is completed on time.
  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program.
  • Other duties as necessary.
Requirements/Experience
  • Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent required.
  • Extensive Water and Sewer knowledge.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within the road construction industry.
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably as an Underground Superintendent.
  • Must comply with Drug and Alcohol testing, as well as Fitness testing requirements.
  • Willing to work overtime, as required.
  • Willing to work out of town, and in remote locations, as required.
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
