We are looking for a professional and enthusiastic, permanent BENEFITS AND PENSION ADMINISTRATOR, to work full-time in our Edmonton Office. The Edmonton office is conveniently located just off of the Anthony Henday ring road, on Edmonton’s East side.
 
SUMMARY
Reporting to the Benefits and Pension Specialist, the Benefits and Pension Administrator will provide administrative and functional support to the Human Resource Departments provision of benefits, pension, and other employee entitlements. In addition, this position will be responsible for employee payroll enrollments, file management, and act as backup support to the Benefits and Pension Specialist.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Handle inquiries regarding employee health insurance and retirement benefits.
  • Process employee enrollments, updates, corrections and reinstatements into the employee benefits administration portal.
  • Distribute employee benefit cards.
  • Process pension enrollment paperwork, ensuring proper completion of forms provided to the pension provider.
  • Assist in the completion of the annual pension member audit.   
  • Process pension member terminations in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist the HR Department in disability claim management.
  • Quickly and accurately process new hire, rehires, transfers and/or employee rate changes within the payroll system, to meet the demands of weekly payroll.
  • Assist in the administration of the employee service award and retirement award program.
  • Maintain up to date filing.
  • Observe and report on various employee leaves.
  • Process off-boarding paperwork in a timely and efficient manner, to ensure employee and company interests are fairly represented at the time of departure.
  • Complete ad-hoc reporting, and various audits, as requested.
  • Develop and post company memos and announcements.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives.
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Must adhere to the principles identified in the company’s Code of Ethics and continuously examine situations in light of these principles.
  • Ensure compliance with controls, safeguards, and company policies.
  • Other administrative duties as required.
 
 
REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum, High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Post-secondary graduate, with a concentration in Business, Human Resources or related program, from a recognized institution is an asset.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license, or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 - 5 years’ experience in administration, preferably in a Human Resource or Payroll capacity.
  • Employment experience within the construction industry an asset.
  • Basic understanding of benefits, pension and payroll legislation.
  • Knowledge and experience with benefit and pension plan administration.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with HR/Payroll systems and obtaining reports from these systems.
  • Experience with JD Edwards, HeavyJob and/or SuccessFactors is an asset.
