We are looking for professional and enthusiastic, seasonal PLANT NIGHT PERSON, to work full-time for our Highways Division in various locations across Alberta
 
SUMMARY
Reporting to the Foreman, the Plant Night Person is responsible for ensuring the plant and its operation equipment are in working order, maintaining the mechanical fitness of plant equipment such as conveyors, burners, motor and gears, feeder bins, drum mixers and other related equipment.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safely unload hot oil form the delivery trucks.
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
  • Inspect and grease asphalt conveyors, and ensure equipment is functioning properly.
  • Shovel asphalt and other plant materials.
  • Use loader or handheld tools to remove excess materials from the Grizzley.
  • Operate front end loader, skid steer or other heavy equipment.
  • Perform plant maintenance and repairs, including welding tasks.
  • Perform set up and take down of plants at different job sites as required.
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.
  • Work with Safety Department to investigate damage, incidents or near misses in the worksite, and ensure proper procedures are carried out according to the Company’s Safety Program.
  • Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
  • Participate as a vital team member, and contribute towards the success of the organization, which may involve the provision of other technical and administrative support, as required.
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
  • Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.
  • Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics. 
  • Perform other related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License; and own transportation.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years' as an asphalt plant labourer or asphalt plant experience.
  • Experience operating loader and/or skidsteer is an asset.
  • Knowledge road construction materials, road construction processes and industry requirements.
  • Understanding of computerized controls and electronics.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
  • Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
  • Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Willing to work out of town and in remote locations, as required.
  • Willing to work overtime, as required.
